ALTA Commends OSITRAN on Productivity Factor Decision
ALTA (Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association) commends OSITRAN (Peru’s supervising agency of investment in public transport infrastructure facilities) for its recent decision in setting the new productivity factor at Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima and encourages Peruvian authorities to support and ensure that OSITRAN’s decision and tariff structure be strictly applied in a timely manner and as outlined in OSITRAN’s decision.. Attached is a statement issued jointly by AETAI (Association of International Air Transport), ALTA (Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association), and IATA (International Air Transport Association) to publicly express their appreciation on the decision. “ALTA commends the professionalism and transparency of the process executed by OSITRAN in reinforcing the regulatory framework in Peru,” said ALTA Executive Director Alex de Gunten. “ALTA calls on the Peruvian government entities to fully support OSITRAN’s decision on behalf of the users of Lima Airport, which will ultimately benefit the overall Peruvian economy.” Over the past year, Lima Airport Partners (LAP) and the airlines have actively participated in the consultation process under the regulatory oversight of OSITRAN in order to facilitate setting up a Productivity Factor applicable to regulated tariffs for 2009-2013 time period. On December 30, 2009, the OSITRAN Board released their important decision on the issue of aeronautical fees at Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima, Peru. This decision will allow Lima Airport to stay competitive as an important hub and destination in South America.
